Ladakh — Data Verification vs CEA / SLDC / NR-LDC
Verdict · PARTIAL — all-time peak tile (50 MW) understates Ladakh's ~80 MW winter record by ~37.5% (systemic two-year-peak bug IEA-1198); installed capacity is not published on the page and CEA reports Ladakh only inside a combined "J&K and Ladakh" allocation block, so capacity is a basis gap (IEA-1199), not a confirmed miss.

Peak demand — field-by-field
The page exposes four distinct demand fields; they must not be conflated:
| Field | Page value (retrieved 2026-05-30) |
|---|---|
| Current demand ("demand now") | 50 MW (09:00 IST) |
| Today's peak ("latest daily peak") | 50 MW ("2026-05-30") |
| Two-year peak | 50.1 MW ("2026-05-29") |
| All-time peak | 50 MW ("2026-05-29") |
Headline peak comparison uses the page's all-time peak (50 MW) against Ladakh's authoritative record peak.

Findings
-
Peak demand understated (>tolerance, systemic). The page's all-time peak (50 MW) and two-year peak tile (50.1 MW) both reflect summer-season modeled load and miss Ladakh's binding winter peak of ~75–80 MW (heating-driven; the Northern-Grid import allocation is itself capped at 80 MW). Headline Δ ≈ −37.5% (50 vs 80 MW), well outside ±5%. This is the known two-year-peak understatement pattern — maps to [IEA-1198]; no new fix-ticket proposed. The page itself flags that Ladakh has no continuous SLDC feed and uses modeled/monthly-synthesized demand, which is why the winter spike is invisible.

Installed capacity is NOT displayed on the page (first-pass artifact corrected). The earlier draft asserted the page shows "146.81 MW (3 plants)". On re-fetch (2026-05-30) the substation/installed-capacity intelligence panel returns "We're updating our servers… This data will be populated shortly" — i.e. no capacity figure is rendered. The prior 146.81 MW value could not be reproduced from the live page and is treated as a first-pass artifact; the metric is marked unverified (page blank), not a confirmed value or a confirmed miss.

CEA reports Ladakh only inside a combined "J&K and Ladakh" block — basis gap, not error. The Aug-2025 allocation-wise PDF (
/tmp/cea_ic.txt, lines 105–110) names the entity across three lines ("Jammu & Kashmir / and / Ladakh") with a Sub-Total GrandTotal of 3468.44 MW (706.22 MW thermal/gas + 95.13 MW nuclear share + 2667.09 MW hydro+RES), dominated by J&K central hydro. There is no Ladakh-only allocated row to compare against. The physical-vs-allocated basis issue (IEA-1199) applies in aggregate form: even if the page published an in-state physical figure (~89 MW NHPC hydro + diesel + solar), it would not be comparable to the combined J&K+Ladakh allocation. This is explicitly not a tolerance failure. -
Other anchors unverifiable. AT&C losses and RPO are marked unavailable on the page; the ₹1.50/kWh residential tariff (lowest slab) is plausible but no JERC/LPDD order was independently retrieved. All honestly marked unverified rather than guessed.
Methodology
Live values read from the Ladakh page on 2026-05-30 (WebFetch). The page surfaces four distinct demand fields (current, today's peak, two-year peak, all-time peak), which were read separately; the headline peak verdict compares the all-time peak against the authoritative winter record. Authoritative peak/import figures quoted from 101Reporters and the ETV Bharat interview with the PDD Ladakh Chief Engineer, both retrieved 2026-05-30. CEA capacity confirmed Ladakh appears only inside a combined "Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh" Sub-Total (3468.44 MW) in the Aug-2025 allocation-wise report — a physical-vs-allocated basis gap (IEA-1199), not a data error. The page does not currently render an installed-capacity figure, so that anchor is unverified rather than failed. No value was interpolated; every unverifiable anchor is marked as such.
Part of the F40 per-state cross-verification programme (IEA-1070).
