Tripura — Data Verification vs CEA / SLDC / NER-LDC

Verdict · FAIL — the all-time-peak tile (3,281 MW) is ~8.6x the authoritative record peak (~380 MW), a +763% overstatement that is physically impossible for Tripura. Capacity is unaffected (page publishes no installed-capacity MW figure). Two-year-peak tile understates (IEA-1198).

Findings

  • Headline FAIL — all-time-peak tile grossly overstated (+763%): the page displays "POSOCO all-time peak: 3,281 MW" (dated 2025-06-22). Tripura's authoritative record peak is ~380 MW (Durga Puja 2025; 376 MW recorded 1-Sep-2025, the highest so far that year), and the state's own projection is only ~700 MW by 2031-32. A 3,281 MW figure is therefore ~8.6x the real record and physically impossible — almost certainly a parsing/unit error or cross-entity (regional/national) contamination in the POSOCO all-time-peak feed. This is a fresh, severe data-integrity defect distinct from the two-year-peak understatement bug. This positive delta was re-fetched twice against the live page and confirmed — it is a real page value, not a read artifact.

  • Two-year-peak tile understates (IEA-1198): the 291 MW two-year-peak tile equals the current instantaneous demand (also stamped 2026-05-30), giving -23.4% vs the real ~380 MW peak. There is no live SLDC scrape backing this tile for Tripura, so it floats with the current reading instead of holding the true rolling-two-year maximum. This is the known systemic two-year-peak understatement — maps to IEA-1198, no new fix-ticket proposed.

  • Installed capacity — NOT a failure; page publishes no MW figure (artifact corrected): the first-pass draft asserted the page shows 1,123.3 MW total (Gas 1,067.6 / RES 55.68). On re-fetch the page shows no installed-capacity figure in MW at all — only a live generation fuel-mix in percentages (Gas 76.8% / Thermal 23.2%). The "1,123.3 MW" line was a first-pass fabrication and has been removed. The authoritative CEA Aug-2025 allocation-wise figure for Tripura (allocated basis) is 656.98 MW (Sub-Total Grand Total; Coal 56.00 · Gas 486.94 · Thermal-Total 542.94 · Hydro 68.49 · RES 45.55 · RES-Total 114.04 — row verified as belonging to the Tripura block in the PDF, not an adjacent NER state). Because no same-basis on-page MW value exists, there is nothing to fail here. For context, the physical-in-state nameplate (full OTPC/Palatana ~726 MW gas plus ONGC Tripura plus RES) is materially larger than the allocated 656.98 MW because most Palatana/OTPC output is allocated to other NER/eastern beneficiary states — the physical-vs-allocated basis difference (IEA-1199), not a data error.

  • Unverifiable anchors honestly marked: AT&C losses and RPO compliance are not published on the page; tariff and import/interchange figures were not independently cross-checked against a primary regulator/SLDC source, so they remain unverified.

Verdict rationale

FAIL. The roll-up is driven by one genuine, same-basis, beyond-tolerance defect: the all-time-peak tile (3,281 MW vs ~380 MW authoritative, +763%). Capacity is not a failure — the page publishes no installed-capacity MW value, and the CEA 656.98 MW figure is a separate allocated-basis reference (IEA-1199 context). The two-year-peak tile understates per the systemic IEA-1198 bug. Several secondary anchors remain unverified.

Methodology

Live values read from the Tripura page on 2026-05-30 (re-fetched twice to confirm the all-time-peak tile). Authoritative peak quoted from credible TSECL/news reporting with retrieval date 2026-05-30. CEA capacity via the Aug-2025 allocation-wise PDF (/tmp/cea_ic.txt), with the Tripura Sub-Total row confirmed by reading the surrounding state-block context (Meghalaya above, Manipur below) so the 656.98 MW is correctly attributed. No value interpolated; unverifiable anchors are explicitly marked "unverified."
