— ₹399/mo.These Terms govern the India Energy Atlas and EnergyMap.in websites, APIs, data services, software, and the India Energy Atlas plugin for ChatGPT and Codex (together, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you use them for an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation.
Section 1
The Services are operated by Council for Independent Frontier Research (“CIFR”), a Section 8 company that operates India Energy Atlas and EnergyMap.in (“India Energy Atlas”, “we”, “our”, or “us”).
Questions may be sent to hello@energymap.in or through our support page.
Section 2
The public India Energy Atlas plugin provides anonymous, read-only access to public information about India's electricity system, including demand, generation mix, carbon-intensity estimates, grid-frequency data, market-price history, demand forecasts, Power Supply Position data, open-access charges, source provenance, freshness, and coverage. It also offers bounded India-only Data Centre place discovery, comparative site screening, indicative industrial energy-charge context, and coarse city or state market bands.
It cannot place a bid or trade, operate grid equipment, send a message, submit a form, change an account, or modify an external system. It does not require an India Energy Atlas account or API key.
Section 3
Results may combine:
Units, timestamps, source links, coverage, freshness, methodology, and quality or truth labels form part of a result. Do not remove them or represent modelled or forecast data as official measured data. Data Centre scores and bands are early-stage comparative screens, not proof of substation headroom, interconnection availability or dates, a delivered tariff bill, water allocation, land title, permits, N-1 compliance, fault level, or engineering feasibility. Third-party information remains subject to its source's rights, notices, licence terms, and attribution requirements.
Section 4
You may use the Services for research, education, journalism, planning, software development, and lawful commercial analysis, subject to these Terms and source-specific rights.
You must not:
Section 5
The Services provide information, not instructions to operate the electricity system and not investment, trading, financial, legal, tax, engineering, safety, or regulatory advice. Market and forecast data may be delayed, incomplete, revised, modelled, or unavailable. Verify material decisions against the current owning source, applicable rules, qualified professionals, and your own controls.
Section 6
We may maintain, update, rate-limit, suspend, or discontinue part of the Services to protect users, sources, or infrastructure. Coverage and freshness depend on upstream publication. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. Material changes to a published plugin contract follow OpenAI's applicable review and version process.
Section 7
India Energy Atlas names, logos, software, documentation, and original methodologies are owned by or licensed to CIFR. These Terms do not grant rights in our marks. Rights in third-party source data do not transfer to you under these Terms; use that material under the source's applicable licence and attribution notice.
Section 8
Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy. The public plugin does not request account credentials, payment information, API keys, or raw chat history. Data Centre tools may process an India-only place query or a commercial site coordinate supplied by the user; do not provide a home address or another person's private location. Ordinary security logs may be processed as disclosed in that policy.
Section 9
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available”. We disclaim warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, continuous availability, and error-free operation.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CIFR and its directors, officers, employees, contributors, and service providers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or loss of profit, revenue, data, business, opportunity, or goodwill arising from use of, or inability to use, the Services. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights, warranties, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Section 10
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, unlawful use, attempts to bypass safeguards, threats to the Services or other users, or as required by law. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
Section 11
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to mandatory consumer-protection rights and any dispute process that applicable law requires, the courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka have jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or the Services.
Section 12
We may update these Terms. This page will identify the effective date, and material changes will be communicated through an appropriate service notice where required by law. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
