Gujarat - Data Verification vs CEA / SLDC / WR-LDC

Verdict · PASS (basis-explained) - peak within tolerance; installed-capacity gap is the physical-vs-allocated basis difference (IEA-1199), not a data error; 4 anchors unverified

Peak-demand fields (the page shows four distinct values)

The Gujarat page surfaces four separate demand numbers; the first-pass draft conflated them. Read precisely on 2026-05-30:

Field Page value Label on page
Current / live demand 18,556 MW "2026-05-30T06:00 IST"
Today's peak 25,398 MW "11:00 IST"
Two-year peak (tile) 25,397.7 MW "2026-05-29"
All-time peak (tile, POSOCO) 26,622 MW "2026-05-23"

Findings

  • Headline peak reconciles (+0.6%). The page's all-time tile reads 26,622 MW ("2026-05-23") against an authoritative state record of ~26,472 MW (set 28 Apr 2025; the June-2025 print was ~26,457 MW). The +0.6% delta is well inside +/-5% and plausibly reflects a genuine fresh May-2026 record marginally above the 2025 high. The first-pass draft mislabeled the two-year tile as the headline peak; corrected here.
  • Two-year-peak tile understates (-4.1%). The two-year tile (25,397.7 MW, "2026-05-29") sits ~4% below the state record - inside tolerance but on the low side, consistent with the systemic two-year-peak understatement tracked under IEA-1198 (no new ticket).
  • Installed capacity is a BASIS difference, not an error (IEA-1199). The page's 73,627.9 MW is physical capacity located in Gujarat (sum of in-state plants). CEA's allocation-wise table reports Gujarat's allocated share of 63,429.08 MW (Sub-Total row, GrandTotal column, Aug 2025) - a different basis. Gujarat is a renewable powerhouse: in-state RE alone was ~42.58 GW at Dec-2025 (No. 1 nationally) and total in-state capacity ~71 GW at Mar-2026 per MNRE/Wikipedia, so 73.6 GW physical by May-2026 is fully consistent. The first-pass draft wrongly flagged this as a "+16.1% fresh data error / pipeline fix"; that is withdrawn - it is the expected physical-vs-allocated gap (IEA-1199), within the methodology, NOT a tolerance failure.
  • Per-fuel deltas are the same basis story. The page's renewable bucket (47,125.6 MW physical in-state) exceeds CEA's allocated RE-Total (38,149.70 MW) because most in-state private RE is contracted/allocated outside Gujarat yet physically located there. Nuclear (page 1,840 MW physical, sited at Kakrapar/Tarapur-linked units) vs CEA-allocated 864.04 MW to Gujarat is the same allocation effect. No double-count or staleness needed to explain these.
  • Anchors 4-7 unverified. AT&C losses, RPO compliance, residential tariff, and RT interchange were not cross-referenced against PFC / GERC / WR-LDC primary sources this pass. Honestly marked unverified rather than guessed (hard no-fabrication rule).

Methodology

Four demand fields read distinctly from the Gujarat page on 2026-05-30 (current, today's peak, two-year tile, all-time tile). Authoritative state peak taken from DeshGujarat reporting of the GETCO/SLDC record and CEIC's Western-Region Gujarat series. Installed capacity reported on both bases: page (physical in-state) and CEA Aug-2025 allocation-wise (Gujarat Sub-Total row, GrandTotal = 63,429.08 MW, verified to belong to the Gujarat block, not a misaligned neighbour). Physical-vs-allocated capacity gap attributed to IEA-1199; two-year-peak understatement to IEA-1198. No value interpolated; unverifiable anchors flagged.
